Week Four Homework III

Some more thoughts about what picture to bring to class today - the following are the current ones I'm thinking of, though in truth I am going round in circles to some extent and only when I am in the class do I think it will be clear which photo best matches the requirements:

In fact, even as I upload them here I'm rethinking some of them - out goes the ladder (too dull, day-to-day, doesn't excite interest, and the ladder takes the eye out of the top of the frame and, well, to somewhere else of the viewer's own deciding, not the photographer's). Venetian interior and dolls remain in, as does the group looking at the "body" in the woods (I can imagine viewers wondering what is depicted and thus being interested in looking at more pictures). The top picture, of the guys on the stairs, may make a viewer want to know more about them, but not about the situation the picture depicts - a portrait, not a hook. Shanti adjusting her sunglasses and smoking - well, it isn't clear it is about anything in particular and, whilst I might be pleased with myself, the viewer is likely to just think "meh" and move on. Similarly, the group walking into the forest - nope, not interesting or dramatic enough. George in the snow - I like it and it has poetic qualities, but for it to be the hook I think it might have to depict her looking straight to camera - that way the viewer is directly engaged and, hopefully, pulled in, but with George looking out of the frame to the right, we're back to the problem with the ladder. So, as of this moment, I'm left thinking Venetian interior, dolls and "body" in the woods.
